As Groff has no regular turn counter, Groff's utility scales with the player's deck. In a deck of Shades or sacrificial companions like Egg or Chikichi, Groff will have more opportunities to trigger. And, every time they trigger they will deal five damage twice thanks to Frenzy.
Unlike most cards, Groff has no Counter, so they will never attack as turns pass. Instead, they have a Reaction that triggers any time the player sacrifices a card, dealing a whopping 10 total damage. Since they have Frenzy, they scale even better with attack boosts and are less likely to overkill a weak enemy. However, the player must have a deck of Shades or sacrificial Companions like Egg or Chikichi, as well as cards that can regularly sacrifice them, such as Monch or any of the Skull Items (Tiger Skull, Yeti Skull, Azul Skull). In a deck that cannot consistently make sacrifices, Groff is simply a meat shield with middling health and is easily outclassed.

In decks without opportunities to sacrifice cards, Groff only has five health and will be of limited use beyond taking a hit or 2.
The Skullmist Tea can give Groff a good attack boost if the right card is sacrificed, and it will immediately trigger their Reaction to use the newfound attack power. However, the extra attack is still likely not worthwhile without a good source of sacrifices.

Snuffer can be sacrificed an unlimited number of times, making it a fantastic pair with Groff. As an added benefit, each Snuffer sacrifice will boost Groff's attack.

Groff is a Companion that the player can bring along on a run. They are exclusive to the Shademancers Tribe.

Strategy

Unlike most cards, Groff has no Counter.png Counter, so they will never attack as turns pass. Instead, they have a Reaction.png Reaction that triggers any time the player sacrifices a card, dealing a whopping 10 total damage. Since they have Frenzy.png Frenzy, they scale even better with Attack.png attack boosts and are less likely to overkill a weak enemy. However, the player must have a deck of Shades or sacrificial Companions like Egg.png Egg or Chikichi.png Chikichi, as well as cards that can regularly sacrifice them, such as Monch.png Monch or any of the Skull Items ( Tiger Skull.png Tiger Skull, Yeti Skull.png Yeti Skull, Azul Skull.png Azul Skull). In a deck that cannot consistently make sacrifices, Groff is simply a meat shield with middling Health.png health and is easily outclassed.

The Skullmist Tea.png Skullmist Tea can give Groff a good attack boost if the right card is sacrificed, and it will immediately trigger their Reaction to use the newfound attack power. However, the extra attack is still likely not worthwhile without a good source of sacrifices.

Snuffer.png Snuffer can be sacrificed an unlimited number of times, making it a fantastic pair with Groff. As an added benefit, each Snuffer sacrifice will boost Groff's attack.
