Soulbound Skulls are an item players may accumulate over a run. This card is exclusive to the Shademancers Tribe.

Strategy

The Soulbound Skulls, if played right, can instantly kill a random enemy at the cost of one ally being sacrificed. No enemy in the game has over 100 Health.png health other than Truffle.png Truffle and the final boss, although Clunkers with more than 1 Scrap.png Scrap and cards with Block.png Block will be able to survive. Try to use the Skulls when there are few enemies on the field, to increase the chance that Soulbound lands on the intended enemy. Additionally, without instant-kill sources of sacrifice like Monch.png Monch, The Baker.png The Baker, or the other Skull cards ( Azul Skull.png Azul Skull, Tiger Skull.png Tiger Skull, Yeti Skull.png Yeti Skull, Skull Muffin.png Skull Muffin, and Skullmist Tea.png Skullmist Tea), only use the Soulbound Skulls on Shades that are at low health. Alternatively, they can be used on a Clunker in a pinch, as any amount of damage will destroy a Clunker and it will still count as a sacrifice.

More than two cards can have Soulbound at once, which is possible when playing the Soulbound Skulls multiple times or if they have Frenzy.png Frenzy. However, since a card cannot have multiple instances of the same keyword, they cannot target an ally that already has Soulbound, nor will they attempt to add Soulbound to an enemy that already has it. They will still resolve properly with Frenzy, adding Soulbound to the targeted ally and to multiple random enemies.

Trivia

  • The source of the damage from Soulbound is actually the Soulbound card itself. This can be seen in the battle logs when Soulbound is activated, reading "(card) hits (card), dealing 100 damage."
    • However, cards are not considered sacrificed unless killed by another allied card, so this behavior will not trigger other on-sacrifice effects like Chikichi.png Chikichi and Groff.png Groff.
    • The damage from Soulbound is not a direct attack, so it will not actually trigger on-hit effects, despite the logs using the word "hit".
    • A Soulbound card may also hit itself for 100 damage multiple times simultaneously when more than two Soulbound cards are on the field, although the reason for this is not entirely clear.

History

  • 1.0: Added. Applied Soulbound to a random ally and a chosen enemy. Soulbound activated when the card was destroyed
  • 1.0.5: Now apply Soulbound to a chosen ally and a random enemy. Soulbound now activates when the card is sacrificed
