Scorchberry Charm is a Charm that the player can collect on a run.

Unlock

Win a run with your pet as your only active Companion.

Strategy

The Scorchberry Charm halves the attached card's max Health.png health, then increases its Attack.png attack by its health after the halving. This forces the attached card into an offensive role, since even the tankiest Companions will have dramatically less health. Most offensive Companions already have low base health to begin with, so they won't gain much attack from the Scorchberry Charm. Leaders in particular may get a lot of value out of it, since their base health is usually higher than other cards with similar effects, though this is more risky. Having some other Items or Charms on hand to increase health or grant Shell.png Shell or Block.png Block can help reduce the risk.

Like all Charms, the Scorchberry Charm modifies the card the moment that it becomes attached, and will not be affected by any future modifications. The attack gain from the Scorchberry Charm is set in stone when it's attached, and the card will not gain more attack if it gains more health later.

Since halving effects always round up, the Scorchberry Charm is more effective for cards that have odd base health. These cards will lose slightly less health, and as a result they will also gain slightly more attack.
