Eye of the Storm

Revision as of 09:51, 19 May 2023 by Jtad (talk | contribs) (added a bunch of enemy replacements)

The Eye of the Storm is the final boss fight, unless the player has met the conditions to reach the real final fight. While the encountered boss is initially the Frost Guardian (Frost Wizard), the first phase will change based on the deck that previously won against it.

Default Phase 1

When the player first encounters the Eye of the Storm, they will fight the Frost Guardian (Frost Wizard). Once the Eye of the Storm is defeated, the Emperor Shade will corrupt the player's leader and deck. This will make them the new first phase of the boss fight, and the cards that will fight alongside them will resemble the deck the player had. It is possible to reset the leader if the player satisfies certain conditions.

Mechanics

The Eye of the Storm fight starts with the Frost Wizard at the front and 3 other enemies, and has 2 additional waves. The Frost Wizard has the unique passive ability to add attack equal to health lost to itself and current allies. Health restored that are again lost will continue to add attack in this way.

Enemies

Image Card Name   Health   Attack   Counter Other Description
Frost Guardian 60 0 4   Resist Snow When   Health lost, add equal   Attack to self and allies
Bigfoot 15 7 4 Aimless
Grink 8 1 2 Apply 2   Frost
Grizzle 16 4 5   Resist Snow Apply 3   Snow
Ice Forge 2 While active, add +3   Attack to all allies and -3   Attack to all enemies
Mega Mimik 3 5
Trigger when an ally attacks
Lose 1   Scrap
Plum 15 2 3 Restore 4   Health to all allies
Rockhog 7 4 6 While active, add x1   Frenzy to all allies
Spike Wall 4 4 Reaction Frontline
Smackback

Phase 2

The second phase of the boss is always against the Frost Guardian (Phase 2).

Mechanics

Once phase 1 is defeated, the boss immediately transforms into the Frost Guardian and summons basic enemies to fill the board. Enemies summoned this way are chosen randomly from a pool of 5 enemies. The Frost Guardian starts with 999   Health and 2   Attack, but loses half of its current health and gains attack every time an ally is killed. It cannot summon any additional enemies after this, besides those that would have spawned during phase 1.

Strategy

Depending on the build, it may be beneficial to start the second phase earlier or later. Because the second phase buffs based on cards that get killed, starting it too early may quickly increase the attack of the Frost Guardian, and more cards are added to enemy waves to replace those that get destroyed.

Enemies

Note: Every enemy here can spawn once, except for Grink that can spawn twice.

Image Card Name   Health   Attack   Counter Other Description
Frost Guardian 999 2 2   Resist Snow When an ally is killed, lose half   Health and gain +2   Attack
Grink 8 1 2 Apply 2   Frost
Ooba Bear 6 4 3 When hit, apply 2   Snow to the attacker
Porkypine 6 2 4 Barrage
Winter Worm 10 8 6 When hit, reduce   Attack by 1

Alternate Phase 1

Once the Eye of the Storm is defeated without the player meeting the conditions to activate the real final fight, the Emperor Shade will corrupt the player's leader and deck. This will make them the new first phase of the boss fight, and the cards that will fight alongside them will resemble the deck the player had. Instead of items, however, other enemy cards will substitute in will similar abilities.

Mechanics

Effects from Charms equipped to a leader or any Companion will remain applied in their corrupt form, with the exceptions of Pinch Charm, Bling Charm, Hog Charm, and Spark Charm. Items with Charms applied, however, will not carry over to the substitution card. Then, 10-12   Health is added to each corrupt card, rounded up to the nearest even number, and +1 to their effects or   Attack is randomly added, twice.

On top of Charms and the above bonuses, corrupted leaders gain the following additional bonuses: Their   Health is multiplied by 3, rounded up to the nearest even number, they gain   Resist Snow, and +1   Counter. If the player had the Titan Bell active when their leader gets corrupted, the corrupted cards will retain a +2   Health bonus, even when Titan Bell is turned off.[verification requested]

Strategy

The trick with the first phase of this fight is that the stronger a player's final deck, the tougher this boss fight becomes. Players will need to be familiar with the strengths and weaknesses of the tribes and cards to help find a winning strategy.

It is worth noting that decks built upon buffed Item cards will not always translate into stronger enemy decks, as substitution cards do not keep Charms of the cards they stand in for.
