The Noxious Shrooms Fight

The Noxious Shrooms is one of the possible second fights a player can run into. The fight is won when the Miniboss, Veiled Lady, is defeated.

Strategy

Even though the fight with The Noxious Shrooms revolves around Shroom.png Shroom, it is just as much of a damage race as any other battle. The longer the fight goes on, the more that Shroom can snowball out of control. No enemy illustrates this better than the Popshrooms, which inflict a whopping 4 Shroom if not defeated, dealing a total of 10 damage over time (assuming that the victim didn't have more Shroom from another source). Shrootles has the potential to inflict 3 Shroom on a target, but Aimless means that the Shroom is potentially spread across multiple cards instead. Bulbhead inflicts low Shroom on an entire row, which is mainly threatening if those cards already have Shroom on them. Puffball looks unassuming, applying just 2 Shroom and having very low health, but it combos with Shrootles and Bulbhead to quickly pile Shroom on multiple targets at once. On top of all the sources of Shroom in the battle, Shroom Gobblers gain Attack.png attack any time something is hurt by Shroom, and they have enough Health.png health to take a good number of hits. Finally, Veiled Lady is a straightforward enemy that attacks quickly and inflicts a respectable 3 Shroom.

Because all but one enemy in the battle can inflict Shroom, each enemy's presence makes the others more dangerous by stacking more and more Shroom. Try to spread out the Shroom across as many Companions as possible to minimize the total damage taken; three cards inflicted with 1 Shroom each by Shrootles is much preferable to one card inflicted with 3 Shroom. If a Companion is inflicted with too much Shroom, recalling them will cure it, but keep in mind that the team's damage output will take a hit if recalling an offensive Companion. Prioritize taking down Puffshrooms and Popshrooms, as they are the biggest sources of Shroom and have low health. Once they are defeated, Shrootles or Shroom Gobbler should be the next target, depending on how much attack Shroom Gobbler has gained. None of these enemies have Resist Snow.png Resist Snow outside of Veiled Lady, so Snow.png Snow can slow them down enough for low Shroom stacks to expire. Ink.png Ink removes enemies' ability to apply Shroom and makes the fight significantly easier. Bonnie and Berry Basket can Cleanse the entire team of Shroom in one go, removing potentially lethal amounts.
