The Muncher

The Muncher is a Map event that allows the player to remove unwanted cards from their deck.

Event

Upon arriving at the Muncher, the player's deck is laid out. The player can give up to 2 cards to the Muncher (also known as Monchi), which removes the cards from the deck for the rest of the run. Some starting Items that are usually worth removing are the starting weapons ( Scrappy Sword.png Scrappy Sword, Tar Blade.png Tar Blade, and Gearhammer.png Gearhammer), Flamewater.png Flamewater, Berry Bell.png Berry Bell, and Sunsong Box.png Sunsong Box. However, be aware of any Charms that might show up that are powerful for these cards; for instance, the Cake Charm.png Cake Charm dramatically enhances the Flamewater and Berry Bell.

Cards with Consume, such as Gunk Fruit.png Gunk Fruit, are generally lower-priority to remove than the starting weapons, as they can be Consumed in battle by playing them during free turns. Cards without Consume, such as Scrappy Sword, can never be removed from the deck in battle unless destroyed by some other card like the Forging Stove.png Forging Stove or Mini Muncher.png Mini Muncher.

Unlockables

Feeding the Muncher 5 times unlocks the Gnome Traveller event.

Feeding the Muncher an Item with Consume unlocks the Strawberry Charm.png Strawberry Charm.

Trivia

The Muncher may be related to Monch.png Monch and the Mini Muncher.png Mini Muncher, but any exact relationship beyond their appetite for cards is unknown.
